Background
Speed and Integrity is a financial services industry problem
Today's advisers and investors demand speed and simplicity from accurate and timely data. They're not prepared to wait for paper releases, scour out of date statements, or request facsimiles. And, they won't waste time on unfriendly, unreliable systems and processes when they have a choice of hundreds, if not thousands, of alternatives of funds to pick from.
Our Solution
We developed bolt-on data-feed technology to give investors, advisers, and dealers an incentive to recommend or select a fund manager's products through:
- timely alternatives to paper reports and unreliable third parties, and
- lower support costs from the provision of more accurate data
We take away the fund managers headaches because the data-feed technology is:
- highly configurable to meet the needs of different investment products and providers
- standards-based, stable and professional, and
- simple but functional.
Customers can leverage what they've already bought - there's no need to re-engineer their systems.
But what is it really?
The data-feed technology is not an investment administration platform. It's an enabling technology between data providers and data clients, and used in conjunction with existing administration platforms.
It doesn't physically touch the clients data. Instead it maps the data to the end-user.
How it works
The enterprise application is engineered for maximum flexibility, efficiency and reliability, and is able to exist in most IT environments with little maintenance. It was architected from the ground-up to be fast, light-weight, and easy to improve.
A unique internal structure provides extensibility to communicate with various back-office systems, especially custom solutions that may have been developed over time by clients internal IT staff. Any information currently in a funds administration system can be caught and presented.
It's not tied to any particular application, and clients don't need to change existing business-critical systems to make it work.
A modular design allows it to integrate with multiple data sources from one installation and provide feeds to different data clients.
Building upon the emerging data-feed EPI standard (developed by COIN & IRESS) we customise to capture the exact requirements for presenting data.
A system of adapters transforms existing data into this model, or transforms the model into a data format that can be provided to external parties via data-feeds. The core technology is a flexible system for directly mapping data between different systems that is able to capture the nuances of each system in an efficient manner without the use of intermediary formats
The mapping system is able to cope with different data domains, not just financial data.
What we've achieved
An effective way to get fund manager data to financial adviser desktop software, or any other system, including a website
We opened up financial portfolio data to offer sophisticated investor reporting services previously only available to deep-pocketed competitors. The bolt-on technology provides two functions:
- A data-feed system to desktop software (supporting the COIN / IRESS EPI standard or a custom feed)
- An integration point for websites and mobile interface for users without specialist software
